Adorned in red, white and blue, 33 youngsters fought for the title of Little Miss Sparkler and Mr. Firecracker Thursday afternoon at Bandshell Park.

In the end, it was a pair 6-year-olds, Quinton Grimley and Ella Diaz, who won the crown.

“I was really excited,” Ella said. She competed in last year’s pageant, though she didn’t win the title. This year, however, she practiced a bit before the competition.

“I sang and danced,” Ella said.

Quinton said he felt good about the win, though earlier this week he wasn’t sure if he was even going to compete.

Children ages five to eight took to the stage and showed off their talents, which ranged from singing and dancing, to sign language and telling jokes.

Organizers said they had a great outcome this year, and they look forward to next year’s pageant.

“It keeps getting bigger every year,” one organizer said. “It’s a fun, light-hearted event, there’s nothing like it.”
