ZIMMERMAN — A Zimmerman man suffered severe injuries when a firework exploded in his hand.

Sherburne County sheriff’s officials say 33-year-old Jeffery Vane was airlifted to a hospital Monday night with severe injuries to his left hand and minor injuries to his face and right hand.

A witness told deputies Vane lit the short fuse on the firework and it exploded before he could throw it.
