Austin residents to help bring murder mystery to St. AnsgarPublished 2:37pm Friday, July 11, 2014
Saturday will be a night full of mystery and excitement in St. Ansgar, Iowa.
The Blue Belle Inn will host a murder mystery dinner performance of “The Secret Life of Peter Rabbit,” written by Austin native Sherrie Hansen at 6:30 p.m.
“[Hansen] created a really great thing in a small town,” actress Lisa Deyo said.
The performance is an original mash up based on “The Secret Garden,” “The Tale of Peter Rabbit,” and “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.” Guests will witness the conversations and drama as the murder case unravels.
“The deeper you get into the story, the more secrets come out,” Deyo said.
Deyo and her husband, John, are two of the lead characters in the performance and have been involved with the murder mystery dinners for about 15 years.
“My husband and I have been doing this for a long time,” Deyo said. “We’ve done every time period, storyline and character.”
The cost is $24.95 per person, which includes a meal consisting of soup, salad, and a choice of meat. The lucky detective that solves the mystery will receive their meal free.
“It’ll be a great evening of entertainment and good food,” Lisa said. “It’s so much fun.”
