To area high school graduates, we throw our caps in the air in celebration of your academic, athletic and artistic achievements.

Riverland Community College was the first commencement this year on May 16, Pacelli Catholic Schools seniors graduated Wednesday and Austin High School seniors graduate tonight. Indeed the state, nation and perhaps the world, will experience their influence in the next decade or two.

We expect this year’s local graduates to set a positive tone and a high bar as they move on to meet their next goals.

After their college days are over, and once they have established themselves in careers, the community usually sees a few return to their hometowns to lead in various capacities. Some of these graduates may make their mark on the national and international stage and we will all claim, with pride, they came from our town.

As these graduates head out into the world, we all have reason to be proud and hold high hopes for their success as our future leaders.
