BP freshman in 10th place after first day of state golf meet

Four area golfers competed on the first day of the Class A state golf meet at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker, Minn. Tuesday.

Blooming Prairie freshman Tommy Braaten opened strong at his first state meet as he is tied with two other golfers for 10th place after the first round of play. Braaten shot an 80 as he hit a 40 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine.

BP senior Victor Peterson shot an 85 and he is tied for 30th place with three other golfers.

In the girls field, Kaitlin Kling, a senior from Grand Meadow-LeRoy-Ostrander is in 19th place with a score of 92. BP freshman Taylor Christenson is tied with seven other golfers for 29th place with a score of 95.

The second and final day for the Class A boys and girls state golf meet will take place Wednesday in Pebble Creek.
