The Austin Blue Sox didn’t start out the SpamTown Challenge they way they were hoping to at Marcusen Park Thursday.

The Blue Sox committed six errors and they mustered just three hits in a 9-2 loss to the Westmont, Ill. Red Sox (3-6 overall).

Austin (4-4 overall) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Cody Meyer doubled and scored a run on an error, but it was all downhill from there. Westmont loaded the bases, but it scored just one run in the bottom of the first and the Red Sox posted three runs in the bottom of the second inning.

The Blue Sox will play the St. Paul Capitals Friday at 5 p.m. in Marcusen Park.
