Former director of The Hormel Institute, wife donate $1 million for professorship

A former head of The Hormel Institute was recognized for giving back to his former institution.

Dr. Harald Schmid, former executive director of The Hormel Institute, was recognized during the Institute groundbreaking ceremony for giving $1 million for an ongoing endowed professorship, which will be named after Dr. Harald and Pat Schmid

Dr. Schmid joined the Institute in 1962, served as a section leader from 1966 until his retirement in 2004 and as executive director from 1987 to 2001.
