Best Bets: Let it be spring

Can it be, Austin? Can spring and warm weather really be here? Why yes, it can, and with it comes a lot of fun activities to do as the area celebrates Easter weekend and weeks of winter-less joy to come.

1. An eggstravaganza

9 a.m. Saturday, April 19. Area Easter egg hunts, all over Austin.

It’s time for a little Easter cheer as several Easter egg hunts kick off Saturday morning. The Westminster Presbyterian Church hunt starts at 9 a.m., the Knights of Columbus and Walmart hunts start at 10 a.m., and there’s even a chance to dine with the Easter bunny himself at the Austin Country Club at 10:30 a.m., along with an accompanying egg hunt.

2. Potent love

7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 19. “Love Potion No. 10” at the Paramount Theatre.

Ready for a little lovin’? The Whitesidewalls are back with a great musical featuring classic ‘50s and ‘60s tunes.

3. It comes with cantaloupe

9 a.m. Sunday, April 20. Area Easter brunches, across Austin.

Don’t feel left out this Easter season, as there are several Easter brunches to enjoy. HyVee of Austin’s brunch starts at 9 a.m., the Austin Country Club brunch starts at 10 a.m. and the Holiday Inn brunch starts at 11 a.m. Call each organization for more information.

4. Celebrating Mother Nature

7 p.m. Tuesday, April 22. Earth Day Celebration at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center.

It’s time to celebrate the earth once again. The Nature Center is putting on an Earth Day party this Tuesday to commemorate the 44th annual Earth Day. The party features Douglas Wood and the Wild Spirit Band, along with cake and punch.
