UPDATE: Missing Austin woman foundPublished 10:21am Monday, March 31, 2014
A 42-year-old rural Austin woman has been found alive after being missing since leaving a bar Friday.
Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said Lisa Canady went home at some point Friday night into Saturday morning, hours after she was reported missing. Her family did not update sheriff’s deputies until late Monday morning, after deputies released information about Canady’s disappearance.
Canady was last seen leaving the Hiawatha Bar by herself around midnight Friday morning. Deputies did not believe Canady disappeared under suspicious circumstances.
Canady’s boyfriend reported her missing at about 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon. He told police he last heard from Canady at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday when Canady sent him a text saying she was going to the Salvation Army. She did not come home that night and did not report to work Friday, according to Amazi. Deputies made several phone calls to Canady which weren’t returned.
