Austin hosting the Midwest Volleyball Classic at the end of March

Youth volleyball teams will have an opportunity to participate in our Midwest Volleyball Classic on March 29-30. Games will be played at Austin High School and the entry fee is $115 with an eight-game guarantee. Pool play is followed by match play. All USAV and AAU teams are welcome. Registration deadline is Monday, March 17.

Outside rink warming houses will be open on the weekends only starting Friday until further notice. Hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday until further notice.

Adult Open Hockey is from 7 to 8:15 p.m. at Riverside Arena March 26.

Participants must be at least high school age, and the cost is $6 per session. Goalies are free but must have full gear.

Save the date. From 1 to 5 p.m. on March 29 you can stop in to Riverside Arena and try curling. Entry fee to is $2. You must be 16 and older. Bring along a pair of clean tennis shoes and where loose fitting pants.

Austin High School varsity baseball, Austin All Stars and Austin Youth Baseball will host a free youth baseball clinic for ages 9 to 13 on from 10 to 1 p.m. April 5 and 6.  The clinic will take place in the Austin High gyms. Please arrive 15 minutes early to register your participant and sign the form before they will be allowed to participate. Bring a glove and clean tennis shoes.

With spring around the corner the Austin Youth Fastpitch Softball registration forms are available to print off and mail in to them at www.austinyouthsoftball.com. You may also pick a form up at our office.

Austin Youth Wrestling will host the NYWA District Qualifier Tournament on Friday, March 14, at the Austin High School. Interested wrestlers in grades kindergarten through eighth-grade may pre-register by Tuesday, March 11. Forms are available at our office and at ci.austin.mn.us or the NYWA site at nywa-mn.com.  They will accept walk-ins again this year until 5:30 p.m. The cost is $12.

For those youth grades five to 12 in Mower County, stop in and check out the Youth Activity Center, which is located in the east rooms of Riverside Arena.

During no-school days we will open at 1 p.m. All activities are free and supervised.
