Three Austin residents were injured in a two-car crash on Highway 218 at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Minnesota State Patrol reports Karina Almaguer, 22, and a 7-year-old and an 8-year-old passenger all received non-life threatening injuries after a 2000 Chevy Blazer traveling northbound crossed the center lane and hit Almaguer’s 2004 Ford Taurus traveling southbound.

According to the State Patrol report, David Beyer, 19, drove with Alexandria Amick, 18, both of St. Ansgar, Iowa, when Beyer saw traffic slowing in front of him. He tried to brake and lost control of the Blazer. Beyer’s vehicle crossed the center line at that point. The State Patrol notes the road conditions were icy.
