Two Austin boys were arrested Sunday night for breaking into houses and stealing electronics in northwest Austin.

Austin Police Lt. John Mueller said a 12-year old and a 13-year-old were arrested after police received burglary reports from the 300 block of Eighth Place Northwest and the 1100 block of Sixth Avenue Northwest at 8 and 8:30 p.m. Sunday respectively.

The boys took an Xbox console, cell phone and computer tablet among other items from the house at the 300 block, and an iPod, headphones and Playstation 3 console among other items from the house at the 1100 block.

Mueller said the boys were taken into custody after one of them gave a stolen item to someone he knew, who turned it over to the original owner.

Police are still investigating how the boys broke into each house and whether the boys knew the homeowners.
