Schools and events are being canceled around Austin Monday as snow and wind are causing poor driving conditions on area roads.

Sumner Elementary and Woodson Kindergarten Center’s 45/15 classes were canceled, but most other schools were already off for President’s Day.

Tonight’s Breast Health Seminar at Riverland Community College’s Frank W. Bridges Theater has also been canceled due to the weather and will not be rescheduled. The Paint the Town Pink event was being organized by Mayo Clinic Health System, The Hormel Institute and the Riverland Radiography Department.

However, the event’s two presenters Dr. Gayette Grimm of Mayo Clinic Health System and Dr. Rebecca Morris of The Hormel Institute will share their information and research Friday during the first KAUS Radiothon (AM 1480) to raise awareness and donations/pledges in support of The Hormel Institute’s cancer research. The radiothon will run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on KAUS-AM 1480.
