MINNEAPOLIS — New poll figures put Democratic Sen. Al Franken’s approval rating in Minnesota at 55 percent, though the share of those disapproving has also climbed since the last check.

The Star Tribune’s Minnesota Poll surveyed 800 adults last week and carries a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points. The Franken results were published Monday. The newspaper reported Sunday that Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton had a 58 percent approval rating and President Barack Obama was at 43 percent.

The ratings don’t reflect the Franken or Dayton standing in hypothetical contests with GOP challengers this fall. Franken and Dayton won office in close races that triggered recounts.

In Franken’s case, he was held in high regard among Democrats but had stronger disapproval from Republicans and independents.
