NWS issues winter weather advisory until tonight

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory until 6 p.m. Saturday as a snowstorm makes its way through the region.

Austin can expect about 2 to 4 inches of snow before the end of the day, with precipitation waning after 5 p.m. NWS meteorologists report snow in Mower County and northern Iowa has brought visibility to less than a quarter-mile and is expected to worsen throughout the day.

Temperatures are expected to reach 19 degrees as a high this afternoon with a low of 5 overnight Saturday into Sunday. Sunday could bring a high of 23 and a low of 16, with mostly cloudy weather and a 40 percent chance of snow during the day.
