An officer was later in the 100 block of 13th Street Northeast and recognized Willister, who had outstanding warrants. Police say Willister ran from them and got into the trunk of a Buick. Officers pulled over the driver, Tammy, at an on-ramp to Interstate 90 and asked who was in the trunk. According to the police report, Tammy said Willister was in the trunk, but she was taking him to turn him in to the police.

Police arrested both Tammy and Willister. According to the Austin Police Department, Willister had outstanding warrants for theft, possession of stolen property and aggravated robbery. He was charged with fleeing an officer and liquor consumption under 21, both misdemeanors.

Willister was sentenced to 60 months in prison for aggravated robbery in a different case.
