Austin Packer dance team takes fourth at state

The Austin Packer dance team finished in fourth place in the high kick division at the Class ‘AA’ state dance meet in Minneapolis Saturday.

Totino-Grace won the meet, Sartell-St. Stephen was second and Cannon Falls was third. The Packers finished ahead of sixth place Holy Angels, who had edged out Austin at the Section 1AA meet last Saturday.

“We couldn’t be more proud of what we did this weekend. We put our absolute best performances of the season on the floor at state prelims and finals,” Austin head coach Kayla Sellers said. “The girls went in with a confident calm. They turned any nerves they might have had into excitement, and it really showed on the floor. They danced as one and ended the season with no regrets.”

Austin seniors Madison Wuertz and Hannah Bergstrom were selected to the All-State tournament dance team.

Austin has competed in 12 straight state meets and it also finished fourth at state last season.
