“How we arrived at the scores was a little different,” Austin head coach Mark Raymond said. “In Brainerd, bars and beams carried our score and today it was floor and vault. If we can get all the events to hit on the same day, we could put up a big number.”

Austin had a team score of 37.6 as four gymnasts scored at least a nine. In the vault,

Logan Tischer hit an 8.8 on a higher level vault she’s been working on to get the Packers started.

“While Logan has been very consistent on this event for our varsity line up, we would love to see her closer to a 9.3 vaulter,” Raymond said.

On the bars, Carolyn Hackel posted a season’s best score of 9.2.

“Carolyn worked hard over the break to add a little more difficultly to her bar routine and that added difficulty was rewarded today,” Raymond said. “Having Carolyn in the 9’s will help our bar line up a lot, as we should be able to put up five girls in the 9’s now.”

On the beam, Austin went three-for-five on no falls on the event with two gymnasts scoring a nine or better.

“Jennifer Boyle is one of the reason I am very optimistic about this event,” Raymond said. “She has put in a lot of time over the past four weeks to improve her consistency and it is now starting to show.”

Austin will compete in the Lakeville invite Saturday. It will feature nine of the top 10 teams in the state in AA and three of the top five teams in A.
