Grand Meadow senior Trenton Bleifus poured in a career-high 44 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Superlarks fell 63-60 at Schaeffer Academy (3-9 overall, 2-5 SEC) in a boys basketball game in Rochester Monday.

Bleifus hit seven of his eight 3-pointers in the second half, but his game tying 3 rimmed out at the buzzer as GM (4-8 overall, 3-4 SEC) fell short.

“Trenton is our leader,” GM head coach Bob Burmester said. “He took a lot of shots, but he didn’t take one bad one. Jordan Miland did a great job of setting screens for him and Landon Jacobson did a good job of driving and getting Trenton the ball.”

The Larks trailed 37-22 at the half, but they kept putting together runs to get closer in the second half.

“Schaeffer played real well,” Burmester said. “I’m extremely proud of how hard we played.”
