Bleifus scores 44 as Superlarks fall to Schaeffer AcademyPublished 10:03pm Monday, January 13, 2014
Grand Meadow senior Trenton Bleifus poured in a career-high 44 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Superlarks fell 63-60 at Schaeffer Academy (3-9 overall, 2-5 SEC) in a boys basketball game in Rochester Monday.
Bleifus hit seven of his eight 3-pointers in the second half, but his game tying 3 rimmed out at the buzzer as GM (4-8 overall, 3-4 SEC) fell short.
“Trenton is our leader,” GM head coach Bob Burmester said. “He took a lot of shots, but he didn’t take one bad one. Jordan Miland did a great job of setting screens for him and Landon Jacobson did a good job of driving and getting Trenton the ball.”
The Larks trailed 37-22 at the half, but they kept putting together runs to get closer in the second half.
“Schaeffer played real well,” Burmester said. “I’m extremely proud of how hard we played.”
GM scoring: Trenton Bleifus, 44; Landon Jacobson, 6; Jordan Miland, 4; Michael Stejskal, 4; Isaac Tangen, 2; free throws: 46 percent (6-for-13)
