Anderson’s 35 points not enough as Rebel boys fall to No. 2 TrojansPublished 11:10pm Tuesday, January 28, 2014
The Southland boys basketball team gave its best effort of the season, but its upset bid came up short in a 92-88 loss in overtime to No. 2 ranked Rushford-Peterson (17-1 overall, 13-1 Three Rivers) in Adams Friday.
The Rebels (3-16 overall, 2-12 Three Rivers) led 43-27 at the half and they nearly won at the end of regulation when Lukas Anderson’s half court shot went in and out.
“We played hard the whole game,” Southland head coach Matt Webber said. “Luke had a monster game and it was a great effort.”
Anderson had a game-high 35 points to go along with his six rebounds and three steals. He went 7-for-14 on 3-pointers. Alex Ruechel had 14 points, 19 rebounds and four assists for Southland.
Southland scoring: Lukas Anderson, 35; Josh Anderson, 15; Alex Ruechel, 14; Trent Reinartz, 12; Marvin Heimer, 6
