‘Tis the season for many groups to donate food to the Salvation Army Food Shelf, but officials need another thing: volunteers.

Special Events Coordinator Kristine Maier is looking for volunteers to work at the food shelf, especially from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays.

Volunteers would be walking clients through to pick out food.

Salvation Army policy is that if someone receives a service in a certain area, he or she cannot volunteer in the area, as it is a conflict of interest. Maier said that makes it tough to secure enough volunteers, especially the food shelf.
