Salvation Army seeking volunteers

Published 10:10am Wednesday, December 18, 2013

‘Tis the season for many groups to donate food to the Salvation Army Food Shelf, but officials need another thing: volunteers.

Special Events Coordinator Kristine Maier is looking for volunteers to work at the food shelf, especially from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays.

Volunteers would be walking clients through to pick out food.

Salvation Army policy is that if someone receives a service in a certain area, he or she cannot volunteer in the area, as it is a conflict of interest. Maier said that makes it tough to secure enough volunteers, especially the food shelf.

People interested in volunteering can contact Maier at the Salvation Army, 409 First Ave. NE, or by calling 507-437-4566 extention 104.
