Peter Kent Darling, 67, of Springfield, Mo., died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Cox Medical Center, Springfield, Mo., after a short illness.

He was born Jan. 3, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Glenn and Gertrude (Gruber) Darling. He was married to Linda Ann Rensink Darling Nov. 24, 1971, in Lime Springs, Iowa. He graduated from Austin High School in 1964 and attended Austin Jr. College (now Riverland). During his career he worked for Digital Equipment Corporation in Massachusetts and spent many years at the News-Leader in Springfield, Mo., as a computer technician. He’d been retired the last 14 years. He was proud to serve his country during the Vietnam War.

Pete could repair just about anything. He particularly enjoyed working on cars and owned many antique cars over the years. He loved to travel the country in his motorhome with his family and closer to home camping, boating, fishing, skiing and, four-wheeling.

He is survived by his sons, Kent Peter Darling, of Springfield; and Brent Scott Darling, of Minneapolis; daughters Sarah Jane Darling, and Jennifer Jane Darling; ex-wife Linda Darling, of Austin, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jon David Darling.
