Packer wrestlers take eighth in St. Ansgar

The Austin wrestling team took eighth place as it went 1-3 in the St. Ansgar Dual tournament Saturday.

The Packers lost to Garner-Hayfield-Ventura 41-40, they lost 46-30 to Clarskville, they beat NCNK 57-15 and they lost to St. Ansgar 38-36.

Brandon Cotter and Kole Igou each won all four of their matches for the Packers. Cotter, who wrestled at 152, had a 15-0 tech. fall, a pin, a 6-0 decision and a 10-8 overtime decision to win his matches. Igou, who wrestles at 182, had two forfeits, a 3-0 decision and a pin.

“Kole Igou and Brandon Cotter did a nice job of pushing the tempo and creating situations to scored,” Austin head coach Jer Osgood said.

Aiden Wilson went unbeaten at 106 for Austin as he picked up three pins and Danny Albarran, who wrestled at 113 and Braden Eggum, who wrestled at 160, went 3-1.

“I noticed progress throughout the day and each wrestler had individual success throughout this tournament,” Osgood said.
