Steve Davis wants everyone to know he is not selling his landmark pizza restaurant.

Despite rampant rumors to the contrary, Davis said Monday he has no plans to sell Steve’s Pizza. He said he will likely eventually sell it to his son, Alex Davis, but he has no time frame for that.

“I can’t say when, but we will more than likely transition the business to [Alex] someday,” Steve said.

Steve said he would entertain offers from others to buy the restaurant, but it would have to be someone with restaurant experience.

“We would want someone with food experience and who knows what’s involved; the hard work and long hours,” he said. “If they’re not prepared, it could be a nightmare.”

Steve said they have a nice customer base, and he plans to continue serving the community.

“I still looking forward to serving the people the way we have in years gone by, and anticipate doing the same in the future,” he said.

Steve and his wife, Angela, opened Steve’s Pizza in 1978. They moved the restaurant to its current location, 421 N. Main St., in March 2009 to make way for the Mower County Jail and Justice Center.
