Mamie Gustina Stundahl, 101

Mamie Gustina Stundahl, 101, of Austin, Minn., died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home. She was born May 19, 1912, to Ingward and Edith (Helmrich) Hamberg in Freeborn County, Minn., where she grew up and attended school. She married Roland Stundahl on Aug. 19, 1934, in Northwood, Iowa. They were married and worked on their farm for 50 years before Roland passed away. They made their home on a farm in Freeborn County, where Mamie enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers, canning, baking and cooking. They moved to Austin in the 1950s. When Mamie was 92 years old, she entered her first exhibit at the Mower County fair and won a blue ribbon.

Survivors include her son, Leslie (Thelma) Stundahl, of Austin; two grandchildren, Craig (Suzanne) Stundahl, of Champagne, Ill.; and Bruce (Diane) Stundahl, of Austin; four grandchildren, Steffanie, Crystal, Lisa and Sandra; and many wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland; a brother, Lester; sister, Marjorie and a grandson Keith.

Memorial Services will be held at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Worlein Funeral Home of Austin with Todd Portinga, associate in ministry, officiating. Visitation is one half hour prior to the service. Interment is at Oakland Lutheran Cemetery in Freeborn County.
