United Way is about a third of the way to its goal

About three weeks into the United Way of Mower County’s campaign, it’s about a third of the way to its goal.

The United Way announced Friday it has raised $343,346, or 31 percent of the $1.1 million goal. The campaign started Oct. 5 and runs through Dec. 15, although many campaigns will wrap up in January and February 2014.

The next update is in November.

The United Way raised $1.03 million in 2012, the third-straight year it topped $1 million.

Money raised will support programs throughout Mower County that focus on education, income and health, as well as ensuring people are able to meet their basic needs.
