The Austin girls soccer team put up a good fight against No. 2 seeded Waseca, but the Packers couldn’t keep their season alive.

No. 7 seeded Austin (6-9-1 overall) lost at Waseca 1-0 in the Section 2A tournament Friday.

“We made a lot of pressure and we had three or four opportunities to put the ball in the net,” Austin head coach Enrique Camarena-Corzo said. “The girls played amazing and I think we controlled the whole game.”

The Bluejays (13-0-3 overall) scored their lone goal on a corner kick in the third minute of the game and both teams were scoreless for the next 77 minutes.

Austin played against the wind in the second half and it put a little damper in their comeback attempt.
