Robert F. McNiff, age 85, of Austin, Minn., died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home.

Bob was born Dec. 22, 1927, in Athol, S.D. to Francis and Lillian McNiff.  He grew up in Preston, Minn., where he graduated from high school.

On Oct. 22, 1961, he married Genevieve (Stockdale) Stern at the Little Brown Church in Austin.

Bob drove for L.C.L. Transit for 30 years and was proud of his accident-free record. After retirement, Bob enjoyed driving school and charter buses, limousines, and being a private driver. He also enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include his wife: Genevieve, Austin, Minn.; son: Jeffrey (Mary) McNiff, Austin, Minn.; step son: Eugene (Sherry) Stern, Rochester, Minn.; step daughter: Denise (Eldon) Kinneberg, Maxwell, Iowa; eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; sisters: Madelyne (Jim) McGowan, Raleigh, N.C., Mary (Larry) Lettenmaier, Otsego, Minn., Veronica Fust, Crystal Lake, Minn.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Dennis and Doug; grandson, Bradley; sisters, Teresa and Julie.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Mayer Funeral Home with Father Wellington Munoz officiating. The family will greet friends at a luncheon following the service on Monday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
