Letter to the Editor

We are writing this letter in support of renewing our school district referendum. Education is an important part of our community and we want the best for our children.

We raised our three girls here in Austin and they all have benefited from the excellent education that they received. We would like to continue our tradition and expectation of excellence in education.

This is our opportunity as voters to access 60 percent of the cost of the school district referendum from the state of Minnesota without our present taxes going up. By voting to renew our present referendum, we will keep our programs and teachers moving forward.

One of the challenges with this referendum is that it is the only question on the ballot this year. It is imperative to get out and vote on Nov. 5 to support our children! Every vote counts and is very important.

It is such an opportune time in our community with the number of students growing and the opening of our wonderful new I.J. Holton Intermediate School. Let’s continue this road of excellence into the future!
