David W. Gibson, 67, of Austin, Minn., died on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at his son’s home in Rochester, Minn.
David Gibson
David was born on Sept. 3, 1946, in Winona, Minn., to Cleaborn “Red” and Anita (Hayes) Gibson. He graduated from Austin High School and attended the Mankato Technical College. He married Darcy Olson in Austin on May 23, 1967.
David was the owner of Gibson Refrigeration and later did maintenance work at Columbia Ice Arena. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, stock car racing and watching his kids and grandkids play hockey and baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Kimberly Ann Gibson in 1975.
David is survived by his daughters: Michele (John) Shuster, Austin; Shannon (Derrick) Orman, Kasson, Minn.; son: Todd (Pilar) Gibson, Rochester, Minn.; unofficial son: Matthew Hanchulak; nine grandchildren: Cory, Logan, Mikayla and Kamarion Shuster, Alyssa Gibson, Brandi and Bailey Orman, and Tyler and Austin Gibson; one great granddaughter: Ezrya Lynn Shuster; sister: Annette Malark, Roseville, Minn.; nieces and nephews.
Casket bearers will be Todd Gibson, Matt Hanchulak, John Shuster, John McDermott, Cory Shuster and Logan Shuster.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4 at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with the Reverend Shari Mason officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7 at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and on Friday for one hour before the service.
