Rebels take fourth, Packers finish sixth at Century volleyball invite

ROCHESTER – The Southland volleyball team took fourth place at the Rochester Century volleyball invite Saturday.

The Rebels (2-5 overall) lost to Century 25-10, 25-22, beat Minneapolis South 25-15, 25-19, beat Austin 25-19, 25-17, fell to Zumbrota-Mazeppa 25-18, 25-17 and lost to Kenyon-Wanamingo 25-20, 25-8.

“The girls learned a lot today,” Southland head coach Andrea McKichan said. “I have watched them grow tremendously in the past week, and they just keep getting better with each practice and game. We have been working toward cleaning up the play on our side of the net and our free ball passing, setting and serving has improved.”

Austin finished in sixth place at the 6-team invite.

The Packers (0-8 overall) lost to Minneapolis South 15-25, 25-20, 15-8, fell to Z-M 25-16, 25-20, lost to K-W 25-14, 25-12, and fell to Century 25-13, 25-16.
