Jimmy John’s opens on 18th Avenue

Austinites have another speedy option for subs and sandwiches. Jimmy John’s sandwich shop, which announced several months ago it was opening a store in Austin, officially unlocked its doors for the public shortly after 12 p.m. Tuesday. Owner Jason Kerr was excited, along with customers, who were waiting for the doors to unlock on Tuesday.

“We’re excited to be in Austin,” Kerr said.

He is happy with the location, nestled in with Hy-Vee, Walmart and many other businesses along 18th Avenue Northwest.

Kerr said the area is easy to get in and out of, and the drive-through should flow well. Kerr added about 28 employees are already onboard, about 25 of them from Austin. Still, Kerr seeks a few more delivery drivers and is waiting to receive approval on more signage.

The business is ready to serve Austin with in-store, drive-through, delivery and catering service, though.
