HOLLANDALE — Labor Day weekend may have come and gone, but summer hasn’t quite wrapped up in Hollandale.

The Hollandale Harvest Festival, which takes place on Saturday, will offer a variety of free entertainment options for people of all ages. There are no admission charges to the festival and any donations will be given to the Hollandale Fire Department. Boxes for donations will be located around town.

Events on Saturday are scheduled to run from early Saturday morning to just after midnight.

Saturday will kick off at 7:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast at the Hollandale Fire Hall. Other morning events include a farmers market, citywide rummage sales and tours of the Heritage Huis Museum.

Racing fans can get their fix at the popular car football, which begins at 11 a.m. In the event, drivers attempt to get a large tractor tire into a goal. There will also be mud bog races that follow car football.

Games for children will be offered at City Park from 1 to 3 p.m. The afternoon will be highlighted by a grand parade at 3 p.m.

Local fire departments will compete against each other in water wars and bucket brigade at 5:30 p.m., after a hot dog supper behind S&V Auto at 5 p.m. The competitions will test the fire fighters accuracy and quickness with fire hoses.

The day will wrap up with a night of entertainment at the 3 in 1 Bar & Restaurant.

Forecasts call for very pleasant weather in Hollandale on Saturday, but in the case of bad weather some events would be moved into the fire hall.
