Austin Police detained a 13-year-old boy who reportedly had a pellet gun near Sumner Elementary School Wednesday night.

A detective is investigating whether the boy was involved in a reported case on Aug. 5 when people were firing pellets at passing cars in that area. Police spoke with the suspect, who was allegedly hiding a pellet gun in his pants. According to the Austin Police Department, there has been vandalism to windows and cars in that area in recent weeks.

An officer took the pellet gun, and the boy was turned over to a responsible party.
