HAYFIELD — The Hayfield volleyball team opened its season with a sweep of Medford (0-1 overall) by scores of 25-21, 26-24, 25-17 in Hayfield Thursday.

Dani Wagner led the Vikings (1-0 overall) with 14 kills and Sydney Tapp added 16 digs.

“It seems to be a new rivalry building for us,” Hayfield head coach Jeremy Struck said. “We’re both up and coming programs and I think we’ll meet again by the end of the year. It was a fight tonight.”
