Greyhounds beat Dundas to get to state tourney

The Austin Greyhounds clinched a trip to the Class ‘B’ state amateur baseball tournament when they beat the Dundas Dukes 4-1 in the Supersection title game in Marcusen Park Saturday.

Craig Braaten knocked in three runs in the wins for the Hounds (22-9 overall) and Joe Huffman picked up the win.

“I’m proud of the way our team found ways to win this weekend,” Hounds manager John Frein said. “We prevailed against solid teams. We’re ecstatic to get back to the state tourney. It’s down to solid eight teams and we’re one step closer to winning a title.”

The Hounds will take on the Shakopee Indians in the first round of state at Howard Lake Saturday at 5 p.m.
