An Austin Public Schools teacher died at her home Sunday.

LuAnn Allen, 52, was a sixth-grade Language Arts teacher who would have been one of the new instructors at I.J. Holton Intermediate School. She had worked in the district since 1987, and at Ellis Middle School since 1989.

“LuAnn was a very talented teacher,” said Superintendent David Krenz. “We’ve called the family to express our condolences. She will be missed.”

Krenz said the district has procedures in place to cope with loss.
