Trip to the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre this week

Published 4:55 pm Saturday, July 27, 2013

Each year we have reserved the last Wednesday in July for the current production at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre.

On Wednesday we will attend the powerful and beloved historical story of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.”

This musical is a production filled with colorful costuming, creative staging and upbeat music.

We will depart at 9 a.m. from our usual location at the Walmart parking lot.

We will be arriving back in Austin about 5:30 p.m., which is a little earlier than we originally stated.

•Aug. 15 Annual Mystery trip: We have some late cancelations and we could add more to our list.

These trips are always a challenge to plan but we work to find a new destination that our travelers have not been to.

Fee for this trip is due this week.

The first clue given is “Where will we go? Where will it be? Some place new. Just you wait and see.”

The next clue will be more helpful: “This destination bears the name of a popular performer. A scenic place with alot of history, this one-day trip will be a great way to spend a summer day.”

We will be departing at 7:30 a.m. and return about 6:30 p.m.

Our extended trips are gaining a lot of interest and deposits will soon be due.

•Oct. 13-19 Nashville Tennessee: Calling all country music fans. Our deluxe motorcoach trip will include the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn.

Nightlife, Music Hall of Fame, Willie Nelson and Friends museum, Belle Meade Plantation and a whole lot more.

We will have a chance to visit the St. Louis Arch in St. Louis, Mo., as we make our way back home to Austin.

The September two-day trip to Waterloo, Iowa, has been scratched due to lack of interest.

•Nov. 13-16 Kansas City and Branson Christmas: This is a yearly destination. This schedule has some new shows and destinations.

•Feb. 4-12, 2014, the winter “Discover Panama” trip: This scenic tour will include a ride aboard the Panama Canal Railway and the Pacific Queen as we pass through locks on the Panama Canal. A local guide will be with us as we experience Panama and its culture.
