A 37-year-old homeless man was arrested early Sunday for allegedly choking a 41-year-old Austin woman.

Police Chief Brian Krueger said officers responded to a domestic assault call at a home at the 900 block of Fifth Avenue Northwest at about 3 a.m. Sunday. According to a police report, the 37-year-old broke into the home by kicking the front door in. The man allegedly punched the victim in the face and put his hands around her neck, telling her, “If you move, I will snap your neck,” according to Krueger.

The man tested well over the legal limit for alcohol and was arrested on domestic assault by strangulation, burglary, and domestic assault charges. He remains in the Mower County Jail.
