Parts of Mower County under severe thunderstorm warning

The National Weather Service has placed the southern half of Mower County in a severe thunderstorm warning until 7 p.m.

A string of strong storms were located along a line extending nine miles west of Austin to 15 miles west of Lyle to 19 miles west of Nora Springs, Iowa. This line is moving east at 40 miles per hour.

This storm has the possibility of producing 60 mile per hour wind gusts and the possibility of hail.

The warning also includes western Howard County in northeast, Iowa and Mitchell County in north central Iowa.

Mower County is also under a tornado watch until 9 p.m.
