Work to remodel the Mower County Government Center and Law Enforcement Center has fallen about two weeks behind schedule.

County Coordinator Craig Oscarson told the board Tuesday work fell behind after some issues with carpeting, but the project is going well. Even with construction change-orders, Oscarson said the project is still within the budget, which was lower than initial projections.

“It seems to be going pretty good,” he said. “It’s still under budget — significantly under budget.”

The project should still be completed this year, according to Oscarson.

The county is using reserves to fund the Government Center remodel and its portion of the LEC work. The city and county are jointly funding the LEC remodel, which has been described as a facelift that will include things like renovating dispatch, revamping the lobby and repairing worn down areas.
