County board to break ground on grandstand

Officials will officially kick off construction of the new grandstand tomorrow.

The county board will host a ceremonial groundbreaking at the fairgrounds, 700 12th St. SW at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday with the fair board and Hormel Foundation.

The 1,500-seat grandstand, which will be made of steel and aluminum, should be completed by Aug. 1 in time for the 2013 fair.

The county board will hold its regular board meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the basement of the Mower County Government Center.

 

Other business:

—The county board will discuss a number of liquor licenses for area organizations.

—The board will host two public hearings: the first on a conditional use permit for Darrel and Eleanore Gorndons to operate a sand/gravel mining operation in Adams Township, and the second to review a conditional use permit at Lansing Corners.
