An Austin man charged with a felony after being accused of punching a woman and briefly knocking her out has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor.

Jorge Alfredo Ramirez, 25, of Austin, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor domestic assault Wednesday in Mower County Court. The felony third-degree domestic assault charge was dismissed after the plea agreement.

The victim said Ramirez punched her at about 11:30 p.m. on July 21, 2012, because she would not have sex with him, according to the court complaint. The victim claimed she was knocked out for several minutes. Police spoke with the victim and said she had blood on her chin, according to the complaint. Police then arrested Ramirez and put him to the Mower County jail. Ramirez will be sentenced on July 15.
