Annual Breakfast on the Farm coming to Adams this Saturday

Those who want to get in touch with their rural side will have a chance to do so this weekend at the annual Breakfast on the Farm.

This year’s event will be from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Jim and Connie Sathre’s farm near Adams, 17513 680th Ave.

Visitors will get a heaping dose of farm life, along with a heaping breakfast. The Sathres attended last year’s Breakfast on the Farm and were inspired to hold one at their property, which has been suitable for weddings and parties, Jim said.

“We’ve never done this, so it’s nice to take our turn and volunteer for it,” Connie said.

The Sathres have been farming for 30 years after they purchased the farm in 1983 from Jim’s great-uncle and aunt, Joy and Elizabeth Nelson. They grow corn and soybeans and raise hogs and goats. But they’ve got plenty more in store for this weekend.

“We’ve got about every type of machinery you can think of coming out here,” Jim said, who is proud of the way the farm is looking in time for the event.

Among farm equipment, Jim added a menagerie of farm animals will be available to see, as well, along with wagon rides, educational displays, antique tractors, a scavenger hunt and an inflatable bounce house.

The event is sponsored by the Mower County Farm Bureau in cooperation with many supporting organizations and businesses from throughout the county. Tickets are $3 per person, $12 maximum for families and free for children 6 and younger.
