Self-Advocates Minnesota Conference coming in JunePublished 5:12pm Saturday, May 18, 2013
The Self-Advocate Minnesota Southeast Regional Conference will be held from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin.
This year’s conference will have a Hawaiian theme. Workshops will be: Survivor, Dress for Success, Relationships/Dating, Learning Portraits, Theatre for Self-Advocacy I and II, Know Your Rights, Legislation, and Cyber Bullying.
There’s a dinner, dance and so much more. Cost is $35 for a self-advocate and $15 for a support staff. Deadline to register is June 1.
Minnesota Twins Game tickets are available
You are invited to the Twins game on Saturday, June 29, or Saturday, Sept. 28.
We have 25 tickets for both games available. Tickets have been donated through the TwinsCare program. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A donation of $10 per ticket is suggested.
Spots available for the vacation to Brindley’s Harbor Resort
Location: Brindley’s Harbor Resort, Walker, Minn.
Leave: Sept. 3 at 7 a.m. Return: Sept. 7 at 5 p.m.
Cost: $650, Scholarships are available
The goal is that all vacationers have opportunities to have fun while on vacation.
A wide range of activities will be provided including cooking, life skills, beach activities including canoeing, paddle boating, kayaking and swimming. Vacationers will also be able to take part in fishing, bonfires, basketball, badminton, croquet, horseshoes, tetherball, volleyball as well as some day trips to area attractions and so much more.
Brindley’s Harbor Resort two-story Log Cabin is located 15 minutes north of Walker on Leech Lake. The cabin features true log north wood construction, a lake side setting on level forested land, eight bedrooms, four full baths plus two and a half baths, two two-person luxury whirlpool, screen porch, air conditioning, fireplace with field stone accents, ceramic floors in the kitchen and baths and a laundry room.
