Ruby Eleanor (Haney) Underdahl, 94, of Adams, Minn., died Friday, May 3, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System, Austin, Minn.

Ruby was born Oct. 24, 1918, in Lansing Township to Robert and Nellie (DeRemer) Haney. She attended Woodlawn School and graduated from Elkton High School. On June 20, 1938, she was united in marriage to Donald Underdahl at the Lutheran Parsonage in Adams, Minn. In addition to farming with her husband in the Adams area and caring for her children, she also worked 15 years at Libby’s in Rochester. In 1994 they moved to town.

She was a member of Marshall Lutheran Church where she was actively involved in the Ladies Aid and Circle. Her church family was very important to her. In her later years, she enjoyed making hand-stitched gifts and quilts for every member of her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; son, Loren Underdahl; daughter-in-law, Mary (Berg) Underdahl; granddaughter, Laura (Kasel) Tyler; great-grandson, Justin Tyler; brothers, Almon Haney, Myron Haney and Marshall Haney; sisters, Mildred Nicholson and Alta Klingfus.

Ruby is survived by her children, Marlis (Gene) Kasel, Roscoe, Ill., Wayne (Maureen) Underdahl, Adams, Minn., Robert (Nancy) Underdahl, Adams, Linda (William) Boe, Taopi, Minn., Larry Underdahl, Owatonna, Minn., Cheryl (Kevin) Sternhagen, Wyoming, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Charleen Underdahl, Carson City, Nev.; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; brother, Jonas (Loretta) Haney, Austin; sister, Viva Bawek, Austin; brother-in-law, Walter Underdahl, Adams; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ruby was a very loving and caring mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7 at Marshall Lutheran Church with the Rev. Liz Erickson officiating. Interment will be in Marshall Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at Marshall Lutheran Church on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday morning for one hour before the service. Honorary bearers will be Gale Ramsey, Valarie Boe, Barbara Underdahl, Janice Canterbury, Lisa Boe, Laura (Kasel) Tyler, Melissa McCabe, Donna Walter, Erica DeVries and Angela Davidson. Casket bearers will be Calvin Kasel, Bradley Kasel, Daren Boe, Rodney Boe, Michael Underdahl, Stephen Underdahl, Jeremy Sternhagen and Joshua Sternhagen. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Marshall Lutheran Church, the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
