The Ride for Healing caravan leaves the parking lot of the VFW Post No. 1216 in Austin on the way to Spring Valley Tuesday morning. The Austin VFW donated $1,160 to the drive by VFW Department Commander Lee Ulferts to raise money to build an educational center for Vietnam veterans in Washington, D.C. The center will house pictures and artifacts gathered from around the nation and those items left at the Vietnam War memorial. The Austin VFW is still looking for pictures or artifacts of vets who died in Vietnam. People wishing to help should contact Sue Register at the Austin VFW.
