Rebel softball team falls to Dover-EyotaPublished 7:39pm Wednesday, May 15, 2013
ROSE CREEK — The Southland softball team had its momentum stalled early in an 11-3 loss to Dover-Eyota in Rose Creek Wednesday.
The Rebels (3-13 overall) opened the scoring when Makayla Swenson singled in a run in the first, but DE (3-12 overall) responded by taking a 6-1 lead into the bottom of the third, where Southland had a chance to get back in it.
Southland had runners on second and third with one out, but Megan Mullenbach, who was 2-for-4 with an RBI and three stolen bases, hit a line drive right to DE’s third baseman, who caught it and tagged the runner at third for a rally ending double play.
Southland (3-13 overall) out-hit DE 9-8, but pitcher Sam Emanuel walked eight in the loss.
Southland will open its postseason Monday at No. 3 Kenyon-Wanamingo.
