If you are not a hockey fan, perhaps now is the time to become one. The Minnesota Wild are in the playoffs, and on Sunday they defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 in overtime in St. Paul.

Minnesota loves hockey, and Minnesotans especially enjoy playoff hockey. It was the first playoff win for the Wild since 2008.

If you don’t understand hockey, find some fans who do and watch the game with them. Here’s the deal: The Wild must defeat the Blackhawks in a best-of-seven series, and presently the Blackhawks lead two games to one. So they really need to win this next game. If you don’t learn much about the game, at least you will be entertained by their spirit and emotion in rooting for their team. Of course, there is a flip side if the Wild falter, but let’s not go there.

The next game is in St. Paul, too, at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
