Nancy Miland, 65, Spring Valley

Nancy Miland, 65, of Spring Valley, Minn., died following a short illness Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Spring Valley Senior Living.

Nancy was born March 7, 1948, to Calvin Kahl and Evelyn (Cardinal) Kahl and was baptized on April 4, 1948. She was united in marriage to Lester Miland on Feb. 20, 1965, in Brookings, S.D. They were later divorced. Nancy worked in housekeeping at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. She also cooked for several different organizations in the Spring Valley area including the Senior Dining at the Community Center, Good Earth Village and the Kiwanis Club of Spring Valley. Nancy was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Spring Valley and has been the church secretary from 1989 until the present time. In her spare time Nancy enjoyed crafts, quilt making, painting, gardening, fishing at Pine Lawn and of course she enjoyed cooking.

She is survived by four sons, David (Diane) Miland and Kenneth (Melanie) Miland both of Austin, Minn., Phillip Miland and girlfriend Donna Gerhking and Sheldon Miland and girlfriend Arie Foster, all of Spring Valley; five grandchildren, Samantha, Logan, Taylor, Allie and Wyatt; two sisters, Rose (Ed) Ackerman of Grand Meadow, Minn., and Lori (Curt) Unverzagt of Brownsdale, Minn.; and one brother, Larry Kahl of Grand Meadow.

She was preceded in death by her parents Calvin and Evelyn.

Funeral services for Nancy L. Miland will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at First English Lutheran Church in Spring Valley with the Rev. Loel Wessel officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
